Senior Staff Accountant

Coastal Credit is a National Sub-Prime Auto Lender with 30 years of success in the Automotive Marketplace. We are currently looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team at our headquarters in Indianapolis.

Position Summary:

The Senior Staff Accountant will perform the day-to-day financial functions of the company under the direction of the Accounting Manager.  The Senior Staff Accountant will have a broad set of responsibilities, encompassing the traditional elements of the role: accounting, transaction processing, account reconciliation, and financial analysis.


- Process daily accounting transactions and perform daily account reconciliations as necessary, in order to meet required deadlines for timely financial reporting
- Provide periodic financial and data analysis in support of VP of Finance and CFO
- Manage various responsibilities within month end close process
- Assist with providing corporate executives with timely, accurate, and relevant management and financial information
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
- Implement operational improvements in partnership with the Accounting Manager and other Coastal management team members
- Expand on existing function, including accounting, budgeting, and metrics reporting
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Assist with any outsourced accounting functions, including the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit or other compliance examinations
- Participate in the operations of the accounting department, including the implementation of an organizational and financial control structure adequate for achieving the Company and department's goals and objectives
- Maintain relationships with the companyís and the departmentís internal and external vendors and customers
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Assist with the compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Other duties as assigned


- Bachelorís Degree in Finance or Accounting Required
- Experience in Accounts Payable, General Ledger reconciliation & auto finance highly beneficial
- 2-4 years of experience in a Financial function
- Strong internal finance skills in areas such as accounting and tax, internal and external controls, budgeting and planning, treasury, financial systems, and management reporting
- Ability to understand loan portfolio attributes and other financial measures and be able to communicate thoughtful and innovative solutions to enhance business performance
- Proven organizational skills and an open, action-oriented personality
- Outstanding internal and external communication skills
- A desire and willingness to immerse himself or herself in the business and assist with the development of the accounting and finance administrative systems
- High levels of initiative, drive, and poise coupled with qualities of maturity, flexibility and patience
